Prerequisite:  None. However, the student should have good knowledge of calculus and linear algebra. 

Catalog Description: Roundoff errors, algorithms and convergence, bisection method, fixed point iteration, Newton's method, error analysis, accelerating convergence. Interpolation and Lagrange polynomial, divided differences. Cubic splines. Numerical differentiation, Richardson's extrapolation. Numerical integration, trapezoid, Simpson's and Boole's rules. Romberg integration, adaptive quadrature. Gaussian quadrature. Multiple integrals.

Evaluation Criteria:  Midterm 30%, LAB Quizzes & HWs 20%, Final 50%

Attendance: A minimum % of 50 participation in all classes through the semester is an eligibility criterion to attend the Final Examination!! This criterion is valid for the students taking the course newly, and who failed earlier with the NA grade.
